And grapes?

Porter & I went through the Walgreens drive-thru tonight on our way home to pick up some prescriptions for Daddy...Porter asked me why the girl who helped us worked there. I told him she needed to work there to make money to pay for things like a place to live & clothes & food...He said, "And grapes?"
Umm yes, to pay for grapes too. (Where do they come up with this stuff?)

New day...New hope.

Today was the inauguration of our new President, Barak Obama. What an exciting day! I was a bit obsessed with the coverage on TV, so I had CNN on most of the evening. At one point I pointed to the TV & told Porter that was our new President. I said his name a few times & Porter repeated it. Now don't get me wrong, Porter has a great memory & can remember more names than me even if you only tell him once. But this name...now this name was a little bit tricky. Nonetheless. the following evening I had the news on while Porter was playing when suddenly, he pointed to the TV & said "Hey look, it's BarakObama!!" It IS all one word when he says it, but still...Mr. Smarty Pants!

I like that face.

Porter was on the floor tonight playing with his blocks & I was smiling down at him watching...He suddenly looked up at me & said, "Mama, I like that face!"

(Yet another) Question of the Day

This morning on the way to daycare, the Porter question of the day was:
"Why is the moon in the sky???"
I'd better brush up on my solar system facts! Oy...

Question of the day.

Questions, questions & more questions...Oh, the mind of a 3-year old is an amazing thing. Every day there has been a new question from our Mr. Porter.
This morning it was, "Why do I have little hands?"

How to make a birthday cake.

Porter & I made our very first birthday cake together for Daddy's birthday. Oh, what fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!!!

Good Question!

It was -17 degrees this morning...Brrr!!!
On our way to daycare Porter asked, "Mama, why do birds live outside?"
VERY GOOD QUESTION, MY SON! ESPECIALLY TODAY!!!
I think we've got a smart one on our hands...

Baby, it's COLD outside!

It was sooo cold this morning that on our way into daycare, we could see our breath.
Porter said, "Mama, why am I blowing smoke??"
Try explaining THAT to a 3-year old!

Just sing it!

Lately our bedtime routine has incorporated singing a few songs after we read books. The lineup usually consists of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," the Barney "I love you" song & "Happy Birthday." Each night, I ask before we sing "Happy Birthday" whose birthday it should be...usually I get an answer like Daddy or Mama or Papa.
Tonight when I asked who we should sing Happy Birthday to, Porter said "I don't care Mama, just sing it!"

Wings

Today Porter said to me, "Mom, can you make me some wings?"
I told him I thought maybe I could. But that it would take some time.

The next morning he said, "Mom, I could really use some wings."

Follow your dreams & fly away, my dear sweet boy...

Kissing Machine

Today, Daddy was doing the "kissing machine" with Porter as he often does...Both laughing crazily until Porter suddenly said, "Turn it off!"
