Fourth of July!
We took Porter to a 4th of July festival in Deephaven today. It was Americana at its best. The festivities took place surrounding this Cottagewood General Store & it literally was like walking back in time. Kids from the neighborhood decorate their bikes, everyone is dressed in red, white & blue...Everyone lines up in front of the General Store, behind the firetruck & then everyone...and I mean EVERYONE walks around the block in the parade. There were a few spectators along the way, but most of the town was in the parade itself. We decorated Porter's big wheel & off we went! He had a blast & it was a fun experience.

Como Town!
We (finally) met up with some great friends today at Como Town. Porter had been talking about going on the ride at Como since we were last there at the zoo. It was great that he had friends his age to go on the rides with him. I wasn't so sure if he would "take" to the rides as last summer at the State Fair, he wanted nothing to do with the rides. But this time, he LOVED THEM! One of my favorite moments was when Porter came running over to me & exclaimed, "Mom! I'm having fun!!"

Look at those cute little hands holding on so tight!

"Hey, I'm having fun!"
Porter's not so sure about the tea cup ride...
We took a break for lunch. Nothing says fun like a corn dog! Especially when you have a friend to share it with.

After lunch, we headed over to the zoo to see our favorite animals. Thanks goodness Rob & Darcie brought their wagon as the kiddlets were getting tired...

See no evil...hear no evil...speak no evil!
Some familiar faces...

The baby monkey is getting soo big from when we first spotted her last fall!

What a fun family day we had...

This morning when Porter was waking up, he said "Wait Mama...I have to wake up my eyes."

H2O
Today after naptime, the three of us headed to the nearby park to check out the kiddie pool. The cool thing about Minneapolis parks is that almost all of them have little wadding pools. Perfect for our favorite swimmer! He started out very shy & hesitant...as he often does...but after a few minutes, he was splashing around, jumping in & having a grand old time!

Oh yeah, we may have also run into the Ice Cream Truck while at the park...
